Mahera Sarker

Mahera studied Law at the University of Cambridge before embarking on an MPhil in the Ethics of AI, Data, and Algorithms. It was during her Master’s year that she founded the Cambridge Journal of AI, with the aim of providing a dedicated platform for students, researchers, and professionals to share their insights on AI across multiple disciplines. Mahera is passionate about harnessing the power of AI for positive change and believes cross-collaboration is a vital part of ensuring this. Her research interests include cybersecurity, medical AI, and autonomous vehicles.
Raphael Hernandes

Raphael is a seasoned technology journalist who decided to deepen his knowledge in this field by studying a Master’s in Ethics of AI, Data, and Algorithms at the University of Cambridge. As a reporter, he writes about the connection between tech and society, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the metaverse, often applying his data skills to find stories. His research interests include algorithmic accountability, media coverage of AI, ethical use of AI in news settings, and AI’s impacts on the information environment.
Debarya Dutta

Debarya is a technology professional with expertise in machine learning, causal inference, and backend engineering. His efforts have been instrumental in scaling up operations at Deliveroo, Uber, Careem, and Ola. He studied Statistics at the Indian Statistical Institute and was a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University’s Department of Biostatistics. He is interested in applying AI for socially impactful solutions, particularly in health. Debarya is dedicated to incorporating diverse ethical perspectives into technological innovation, aiming to challenge conventional Western norms.
Angy Watson

Angy studied Psychology at the University of Liverpool and received her Doctorate from École des Ponts in Paris, where she focused her research on the intersection of creativity, technology and leadership. Angy has recently started an MSt in AI Ethics and Society at the University of Cambridge. Her research interests include Social AI, phenomenological experiences of AI, how AI shapes human relationships and how AI will impact moral decision making.
